OpenAI signs $11.9B five-year compute capacity agreement with CoreWeave and takes $350M equity stake
CoreWeave announced an $11.9 billion five-year agreement with OpenAI for AI infrastructure capacity, alongside an equity arrangement under which OpenAI took a $350 million stake in CoreWeave shares ahead of the CoreWeave IPO. The deal diversifies OpenAI beyond Microsoft Azure and is widely read alongside Microsoft's mid-March 2025 confirmation that Azure-OpenAI exclusivity had been replaced by a right-of-first-refusal as part of the broader Microsoft-OpenAI restructuring path.
